- Course objectives
- At the end of this course, students will be able to: dominate terminology necessary for syntax analysis of sentences; understand the structure of clauses and sentences based on the relation of syntax and morphology; demonstrate procedures used in syntax analysis; define types of sentences; reproduce sentence membres and word order; analyse typology of utterance.
- Syllabus
- Analysis of concepts: "phrase", "énoncé", "énonciation". Procedures used in syntax analysis – substitution, commutation. Types and modality of a simple sentence. Types of sentences from the view of sentence position – juxtaposition, co-ordination, subordination, correlation. Sentence parts. French word order – inversion, dislocation"détachement", "mise en relief". Analysis and typology of utterance, functional sentence perspective.
