- Course objectives
- The main objective is to improve the students' English in all four major skill groups: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Lessons will cover Units 5-6 in the coursebook New English File Advanced. As students are training to be teachers, they will be expected to take an active role in their own learning, with an eye toward understanding how to share information with their peers, and later their own students. At the end of the course students should be able to understand how to present a topic of interest to them. They should be able to interpret texts of an advanced level and be able to respond to advanced-level input with a high level of accuracy.

- Topics of the course: Travel and tourism. Memorable journeys. Who's in control? Nanny states. Trick or treatment. Alternative medicine.

- Teaching methods
- Students will take part in pair-work, group-work, class discussions and will be expected to participate in on-line forums as well as write an assignment, and work on their portfolios (on-line portfolios recommended).
- Assessment methods
- The contunious assessment (30% of the course) will consist of one progress test, one writing assignment, a handed in portfolio (it will be evaluated using the portfolio evaluation rubric), and forum participation (one original entry and one response for each topic).
The credit will be awarded to students who will reach 70 percent on the final credit test and 70 percent on the total (CA plus the final test). The final credit test will contain features from a CAE test. - Language of instruction
