Course objectives
The goal of the course is to deepen the knowledge of the Russian syntactic system and to apply of acquired knowledge in practical language. The attention is focused on the extanding of information about a simple one and two member sentence on comparative Russian-Czech aspect. At the end of this course the student will be able to describe the syntactic system of contemporary Russian language; to identify syntactic constructions; to explain the differences in the structure of simple sentences in Russian and Czech languages; practically to apply the acquired knowledge.

  • 1. Syntax as a grammatical part. The subject of syntax. 2. Syntactical units and their relations in sentence. 3. Simple sentence. Complex and compound sentence. 4. Sentence elements. 5. Subject and predicate. Typology of predicates. 6. Object, attribute, apposition. 7. Аdverbials. 8. One-element and two-element sentences. 9. One-element sentence with definite subject, non definite subject. 10. Nominative sentence. 11. Multiple sentence elements. 12. Sentence with adverbial participle. Separating parts of sentence.

delivering of homework during the semester
passing of written final test. Students should demonstrate their knowledge of theory and terminology, their ability to make syntactical analysis. 75% of correct answers is needed to pass.
