Course objectives
Graduates of the course will be able to determine rock-forming minerals and basic rocks. The essential principles used for mineral and rocks determination will be demonstrate on the examples.
Syllabus
  • Mineralogy 1. symmetry elements and their finding on crystals 2. crystal systems and relationships between morphology and structure of crystals 3. practice exhibition of physical properties of minerals 4. optical properties of minerls and polarising microscope 5. practice exhibition of rock forming minerals Petrology 1. classification and exhibition of igneous rocks 2. classification and exhibition of sedimentary rocks 3. classification and exhibition of metamorphic rocks
