Course objectives
Students will
make themselves familiar with a school environment and with the system of language education;
try out teaching in small groups of learners under the supervision of a mentor teacher;
teach three lessons;
analyse their lessons and suggest changes;
keep a reflective journal.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to
demonstrate their knowledge of the school environment and their knowledge of the Czech system of language education;
try out teaching in small groups of learners under the supervision of a mentor teacher;
teach three lessons independently;
analyse their lessons and suggest changes;
reflect on their teaching performance/experience in their reflective journal.
Syllabus
  • Students are in schools for one week, 15 hours.They will have a preparation and reflective seminar at the faculty.
  • Preparation seminar - aims, organization, cooperation with mentors and schools
  • Induction session in the school
  • Shadowing a language teacher, observations
  • Material prepration, planning
  • Cooperative teaching
  • Independent teaching
  • Reflective seminar, lesson analysis.
