Course objectives
The aim is to lecture the students understand the context and significance of the independent Czechoslovak Republic in 1918. Help deepen students' ability to independently analyze the sources of various origins and literature on this and use their content in the interpretation of specific substantive issues relating to the First World War and the emergence of Czechoslovakia.
Syllabus
  • The aim is to lecture the students understanding of the characteristics and importance of military-political blocs in Europe at the time of first World War II. Causes of War, the ratio of the leaders of Czech political life and the general public to the war, development of opinions on the question of statehood Czechs and Slovaks before the onset of and during the first World War II. Creating conditions for the emergence of MS. international action, led by TG Masaryk, the role and help compatriots in Russia, France, USA and Italy to create Czechoslovakia. foreign troops. Establishment and development of MS. Legions in Russia, their relationship to the Great October Socialist Revolution, Siberian adventure. The emergence of MS. Legions in France and Italy, their participation in the fight against RU, the role of the Legion of Czechoslovakia .. The historical significance of the independent Czechoslovak Republic, its constitution in late 1918 and first half of 1919.
