- The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Chemistry for Education (programme PdF, B-CH3S) (2)
- Chemistry for Education (programme PdF, B-SPE)
- Lower Secondary School Teacher Training in Chemistry (programme PdF, B-SPE)
- Course objectives
- The lessons are focused on recapitulation of secondary school knowledge of physics and on improvement of students` knowledge in fields that are related to both qualitative and quantitative explaining of chemical phenomena.
The first half of the course is devoted to recapitulation and improvement of mathematical subject matter in the range necessary for following education in physics and for making calculations in general, physical and analytical chemistry.
- Learning outcomes
- After finishing this course, the student will be able to:
- solve easy physical calculation examples,
- deduce dimensions of physical quantities, using calculation formulas for the quantities,
- understand how chosen physical and chemical calculation formulas (rules) are deduced (also by means of mathematical analysis),
- use differential and integral calculus to solve easy physical and chemical exercises,
- will have a basic overview about chosen instruments and physical methods used in chemical laboratories. - Syllabus
- Week 1: Linear function. Week 2: Derivative, differential Week 3: Integral, differential equation. Week 4: Physical quantities and their units. Basic rules for working with vectors. Week 5: Mechanics: speed, acceleration (linear and circular movements). Force, work, energy: Newton's laws, momentum, torque sentence, pressure, Archimedes' law, Stokes law, labor and energy, moment of inertia. Week 6: Waves (general). - lectures, laboratory training
- Assessment methods
- Colloquium (oral) after written test.
The written test takes 60 minutes. The students solve 10 calculation examples similar to the ones that are in the example collection available by means of Informational System in section Study Materials. To take part at colloquium, at least 7 examples must be solved correctly. - Language of instruction
