- Course objectives
- The goal of the course is to give the students a comprehensive overview of the development of French history from the beginning till the present day. The attention is also lain on the the development of artistic styles, (especially in architecture and art) and their place in the context of Europe of the period. At the end of the semester, the students will gain general knowledge and survey of he history of France. The students will be able to compare it with the development of other European countries, especially with the history of Bohemia and Moravia. An interactive teaching material was created especially for his course. In the seminars, the students will be acquainted with historical texts, audio and video documents and with art pieces that are typical for individual historical periods. The students work with the texts and other documents that are available in Study material of the subject.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course, the students are able to: - master the knowledge of the development of historical period, - define the main historical events and their importance for further development - enumerate and describe the main historical figures of the period - range various periods chronologically - apply the knowledge during writing activities, including essays and bachelor thesis

- 1. Prehistory. Celtic settlement. 2. Period of Romanisation of Gaule. 3. Period of reign of Mérovingiens. 4. Period of reign of Carolingiens. 5. Period of reign of Capétiens. 6. Great French Revolution. 7. Napoleon period. 8. Period of Bourbone Restoration. 9. July 1830 revolution. 10. July monarchy and 1948 revolution. 11. The second Republic and the second Empire, Commune. 12. The third Republic. 13. WW I and Versailles peace. Period between the wars. 14. WW II period. 15. The fourth and the fifth Republics. 16. France after de Gaulle until now.

- Type of classwork: lecture and seminar. Workshop Ending For students of the FJHC: Lecture -oral examen. Requirements for ending: Test (as a successful test is considered one with at least 70 % right answers). Seminar - seminar work. For elective students: active participation and preparation of a written seminar paper.
