Course objectives
The learning outcomes are the transfer of basic information from the field of pedagogy of the visually impaired with an emphasis on counseling and support for the independent life of blind and partially sighted people. Students will gain knowledge about the impact of visual impairment on quality of life, education system, special aids, counseling and intervention.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able after the course: - to understand the specific manifestations and effects of visual impairment on a person's personality and its development - able to classify visual impairment from different perspectives - Present the possibilities of counseling and education for persons with visual impairment in the Czech Republic - master the basics of guiding a visually impaired person - recommend basic special tools to handle the everyday life of a person with weakened vision and a of the blind
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic terminology. The history of support of visually impaired people in and around the world. 2. Anatomy of eye. 3. Physiology of the vision process. Development of visual perception. Basic examination of visual functions. 4. Basic pathology of vision in childhood and adulthood. Speech defects. 5. Technical aids for the visually impaired and blind. 6. Early intervention - the theoretical basis of early care, forms and services of.Centers (Clients and Services) 7. Personality of a visually impaired person. (Perception, thinking, attention, behavior, speech). Psychomotor development of a visually impaired child. 8. Visually impaired child at pre-school age (pre-school education of the sight of the affected child, child with disturbed binocular vision and reeducation of these defects) 9. The system of education of pupils with visual impairments in the Czech Republic. Education of pupils with a visual impairment. Braille. 10. Multiple disabilities. 11. Counselling and intervention: service providers, service specifications. 12. Communication with visually impaired people. Basics of Guidance. Common mistakes.
