Course objectives
Upon completion of the course the students will be able to use preparatory, fitness and balancing exercises during warm-up and specific activities, apply the basics of artistic gymnastics, rhythmic and dance activities including appropriate motivation, and to use the exercises for the development of physical abilities and skills in the area of motor skills, musical and physical education, and psychomotor activities suitable for preschool children.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the students will be able to understand, explain and use the basic knowledge of physical education with a focus on music and movement education, gymnastics and psychomotor skills; they will be able to use the knowledge and skills in the development of physical abilities and skills in preschool children.
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic terms associated with various types of exercises, roles of various exercises and principles of their application. 2. – 3. Health supporting physical activity – compensatory exercises with and without equipment. 4. Body posture, poor posture, fatigue, PE moments. 5. – 6. Basic concepts associated with music and movement education, dance, music and rhythmic accompaniment, names of dances, basic physical games and activities. 7. – 8. Gymnastic games – methodological series, assistance and protection in basic acrobatic exercises suitable for preschool children. 9. – 11. Psychomotor skills - theoretical knowledge based on the European Forum of Psychomotricity, classification, simple traditional as well as unconventional apparatus and equipment in teaching the ability to enjoy movement, either individually or in a group. 12. Summary of the learning content, achievement of credit requirements.

Teaching methods
Verbal, demonstrative, and practical.
Assessment methods
Active participation in lessons. Short individual presentations including preparation for and execution of stretching, strengthening and coordination exercises – physical activity test. Theoretical knowledge based on the European Forum of Psychomotricity, classification by relevant areas; development of a psychomotor aid and written description of its application in a single psychomotor activity.
