- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide an overview of knowledge in the field of economics. Students will become familiar with the tools and methods of purchase management, sales management, and supply management, including methods of economic evaluation of the process and importance of logistics in commercial activities. Content is focused on basic concepts in economics, developing the ability to understand the economic issues related to political, social and ethical aspects.
Knowledge: Costs; market system; demand and supply; GDP; consumption; savings; investments.
Skills: Understanding the economic issues related to political, social and ethical aspects.
Attitudes: Study of economics will allow students to acquire the economic way of thinking and reasoning. - Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, students should know and be able to:
- Properly use terms from the public economy.
- Count the cost of different types.
- The goal is to understand the main laws and problems of modern public economy systems

- 1) The economic way of thinking. Revenues and expenses.
- 2) Cost: fixed, variable, total, average marginal; opportunity costs, sunk costs.
- 3) Market system. Supply and demand curve. Market equilibrium. Shifts of curves.
- 4) Elasticity of demand and supply. Cross elasticity. Price and income elasticity.
- 5) Human capital theory. Differences in wages (men and women, minorities, the minimum wage, subsistent minimum).
- 6) Economic growth and the economic cycle. GDP and GNP.
- 7) Unemployment: frictional, structural and cyclical.
- 8) Inflation (specific, galloping, hyperinflation), measuring inflation.
- 9) Consumption, savings and investments. Private and public savings.
- 10) Financial system. Banking system. Central bank and merchant bank. Stocks and bonds.
- 11) International trade. Protectionist policy. The process of formation of the state budget, European Union
- 12) National economy and economic process (cycle of values in national economy). Instruments of state to influence economic development (legal, fiscal, monetary)
