- Course objectives
- Students get the information about specifics of visually impaired - psychological issues, rehabilitation and education, they get also a background in counselling for pupils and students with visual impairment in the Czech republic.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to:
- to classify visual impairment from different perspectives and to understand the impact of visual impairment on everyday life and education
- to analyze appropriate measures, procedures and recommendations for the pupil / student with visual impairment
- to evaluate procedures in counseling and typhlorehabilitation of a person with visual impairment of varying degrees and types
- recommend special aids for a visually impaired person of varying degrees and types - Syllabus
- • A person with visual impairment. Education of people with severe visual impairment, terminology. Visual impairment as a part of multiple disability.
- • Family of child / adolescent / adult with visual impairment. Specifics, possibilities of support and intervention.
- • Pupils and students with visual impairment (developmental specifics, diagnosis of needs according to the type of visual impairment and the level of functional vision, communication with visually impaired persons, special aids).
- • System of typhlorehabilitation in the Czech Republic and abroad. Counseling facilities and social service providers for people with visual impairments.
- Secondary and lifelong education of people with visual impairment. Occupational use of persons with severe visual impairment.
- • Special aids for visually impaired persons. Print and Braille print. Special graphics for blind.
- • Communication with people with severe visual impairments, spatial orientation and independent movement. Specific needs of people with visual impairment and quality of life.
- • Support for persons with severe visual impairment. Special educational counseling and intervention for children and pupils with severe visual impairment.
- • The importance of social and occupational rehabilitation in the education of pupils and students with visual impairments. Identification and removal of barriers to the educational process.
