Course objectives
Aim of the subject is to expand and deepen student's diagnostic competence. Subject heads towards student's understanding of teacher's diagnostic work and its meaning, student will know different ways of cooperation with experts on exploring abilities, knowledge, and child's needs. The student will be able to plan and support child's further development.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: - explain basic diagnostic terminology; - describe system of counselling at school system; - do a complex diagnostics of a child; - create adequate plan of support and intervention.
Syllabus
  • 1. Theoretical background of pedagogical and psychological diagnostics, basic terminology, history. 2.-3. Diagnostical methods; Standards for using diagnostical methods. 4. System of counselling at school system; legislation 5. Teacher's cooperation with shool counselling institutions; work with assessments; Individual educational plan 6. Non-structured and structured observation within the context of the diagnostical process 7. Interview within the context of the diagnostical process 8. Diagnostics of Child's readiness for school education, it's motivation and interests 9. Individualisation and differenciation; Implementation of supporting arrangements 10. Diagnostics of the family background 11.-12. Complex diagnostics of the struggling child, creation of an adequate plan of support and intervention, cooperation with counselling organisation
