- Course objectives
- The course aims to introduce students of the German language in the Czech Republic (Masaryk University Brno) and students of integrative education with a focus on language and linguistic diversity in Germany (University of Potsdam) to the different systems of language integration in Germany and the Czech Republic, or in neighboring Lower Austria. Objectives: (a) Exchange of experience on language integration in the Czech Republic and Germany, (b) Exchange of knowledge on the acquisition of a second language in formal and informal settings, (c) Promotion of the skills of teachers and students involved in the project at work with online tools for teaching.
- Learning outcomes
- Expected learning outcomes: The students gain basic insights into (language) integration in the educational systems in the Czech Republic and Germany and can compare the basic characteristics of both systems. The students will further acquire or deepen their knowledge of the processes of second language acquisition. Students will be more aware of the challenges of language diversity in the classroom.
- Syllabus
- 6 lectures (45 minutes input and 45 minutes online discussion between lecturers and students / among students via electronic forums) on the following topics: 1. Linguistic integration of people with international protection in the Czech Republic (Petr Pytlík, Brno); 2. Phases of natural second language acquisition (Roland Wagner, Brno); 3. Second language acquisition in the pre-school context (Alice Brychová, Brno); 4. Inclusive education and linguistic diversity in Germany (Katrin Böhme, Potsdam); 5. Language classes (Katrin Böhme, Potsdam); 6. Challenges in learning German as a second language depending on the L1- (Natalia Robak, Potsdam)
