Cíle předmětu
At the end of the course students should be confident when writing poems in English.
Výstupy z učení
By the end of the course the students will be able to: - write poems in English - use creative poetry writing in practice - modify the tasks according to their own needs - create their own creative poetry writing activities
Osnova
  • Students will practice their writing skills through expressing (among other things) their ideas and feelings in poems. Students are expected to be actively involved - writing their own poems and improving them based on their peers' feedback. At the end of the course, each student should possess a collection of 10-12 own poems. The goal of the subject is that the students practice and extend their language skills, learn to provide constructive feedback and react to it, and describe the possibilities of using poetry in language teaching when they finish the course. The seminars include the topics below. Every week, the students will offer their first draft, receive feedback from the teacher and/or their peers, consequently considering whether and/or how to implement the suggested changes into the final version. There are weekly topics. Expected Outcomes: 12 poems created by each student, the students to be able to provide feedback and react to it, the students to be able to identify the possibilities of using poetry in their own teaching.

Výukové metody
This is primarily an on-line course. The goal of the subject is practicing and improving language skills through creative poetry writing. Students may meet up in class three times (this is optional because the course is primarily an on-line one - as mentioned above) – for an introductory lesson, in the middle of the semester to discuss, evaluate the process and suggest improvements for the second part of the semester and at the end of the semester to sum up the process. It will be up to the group to decide whether or not a reading evening will be organized.
Metody hodnocení
Each student will be expected to write a poem on a weekly basis. The first draft will be uploaded in the Mood-Link-A (by a certain day and time) to be discussed by all the other participants who will give the author positive feedback as well as constructive criticism - suggestions for changes (by a certain day and time). Comments on how the piece makes the other participants feel are welcome, of course. After that, the author will decide whether or not to incorporate the suggested changes and publish the final version in the Mood-Link-A (by a certain day and time). This process will be repeated every week (i.e. all the steps are required for awarding a credit). Throughout the semester students are encouraged to think which activities (and how) they could be able to use or adapt for their own teaching.
