Course objectives
After completing the course, the student is able to apply the acquired knowledge in the field of language culture and language development in children, phonetics and communicative skills in pedagogical practice. Taking into account the individuality of the child, the student uses adequate procedures, forms and methods of work in expanding and enriching the vocabulary. He/she is able to guide the children towards proper pronunciation, clarity of speech, etc. Through specific means and aids, it helps to develop communicative competences in the broader sense, but also learning and problem-solving competences. It understands the importance of the teacher's personality in the development of the Czech language as not only a mother tongue but also a second or other language. The course includes reflection on student practice in the form of analysis of specific activities aimed at language education.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: a) apply the latest methods of enriching children's vocabulary; b) on the basis of knowledge of phonetics, language culture and language development of the child, use appropriately the means of language education and motivate adequately; c) diagnose the most common speech disorders, implement prevention of the development of speech disorders, and select appropriate intervention to correct the child's speech disorders; d) to develop, through language education, the key competences of children in a linguistically and culturally heterogeneous classroom, especially communicative and problem-solving competences; e) to reflect on the results of practice by analysing concrete activities.

  • 1. Framework curriculum for preschool education; tasks of language education in kindergarten. 2. Means for the development of language education; aids for language education. 3. Methodology of activities for the development of language education. 4. The importance of motivation in language education; games for the development of communicative competence in the mother tongue. 5. Language education in a linguistically and culturally heterogeneous classroom. 6. Methods and forms of work in language education. 7. Voice education and voice hygiene of the child and the teacher. 8. Diagnosis of the child's vocabulary in the mother's school. 9. Vocabulary of the child in preschool age, its specifics and expansion. 10. Phraseology; professional and didactic-pedagogical literature on the development of language education. 11. Grammatical aspect of the child's speech in preschool age. 12. Speech disorders in the preschool child.

Teaching methods
During the teaching process, methods based on thought operations are used, especially application, analysis and synthesis. Critical thinking and discussion methods are also applied. Teaching is also carried out, among other things, in the form of pair and group work.
Assessment methods
Type of training: seminar. The course ends with a written examination. The content of the written thesis is determined by the subject areas of the course. It consists of theoretical and practical didactic tasks and a spelling test. During the semester, the student is obliged to complete a reflection of student practice in the form of an analysis of specific activities aimed at language education.
