Learning outcomes
From the point of view of professional knowledge and skills, the graduate has the knowledge of Pharmacognosy and areas related to the emphasis on knowledge in national and world scientific databases and other scientific and professional literature and should be able to present them to the professional public.
Syllabus
  • The content of the subject is the issue of pharmaceuticals and auxiliary substances of natural origin used in human and veterinary medicine. Pharmacognosy deals with the search and study of the sources of bioactive natural substances and the possibilities of their extraction, separation, identification and biotechnological preparation. It explains the interrelationship and the conditionality of the formation of secondary metabolites, the mechanism of their effect and possibilities of practical use. Within the framework of phytochemistry, the subject also describes the content of substances, defines their structure, which determines the biological properties, deals with their qualitative and quantitative analysis and biological activity. It uses the procedures and methods described in scientific and professional publications with an emphasis on the knowledge of science and research contained in world databases containing knowledge from scientific publications and is necessary to increase the student's ability to gain knowledge from the described field of knowledge in the research texts.
