- Prerequisites
- The course is intended for students of master degree studies. Basic knowledge on history of European baroque painting in 17th and 18th century is presupposed.
- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- The course introduces selected chapters from the history of the baroque wall painting in the Central Europe.
- Learning outcomes
- After finishing the course student should be able to:
Describe and interpret a specific selected early modern fresco;
Show a basic knowledge of iconology and emblematics;
Describe basic technologies of early modern wall painting. - Syllabus
- Current approaches to the study of early modern ceiling paintings, their research (corpus of ceiling painting, its pluses and minuses; restoration of ceiling paintings in the past and today).
- Technique and technology of the ceiling painting.
- “Concettismo”: concepts of paintings, contemporary published descriptions, iconology, emblematics.
- Interpretation of ceiling paintings in context of other interior artistic decorations.
