Knowledge of Serbian/Croatian at the level when student is able to understand artistic texts is required.

Course objectives
Aim of this course is to provide students with complex picture of Croatian and Serbian Avant-garde literature in their mutual comparison and European context.
Learning outcomes
Absolvents of this course will be able to discuss about the Avant-garde literature (mainly Croatian and Serbian) on a specialized level. They will be able to apply gained knowledge on literary production of 1918 - 1941 and interpret it in wider context of European literature, as well as compared to preceding and following eras.
Syllabus
  • 1) What is Avant-garde in literature? General characteristic of the term, what preceded? (J. P. Kamov, M. Ćurćin).
  • 2) Avant-garde movements in Europe and in Croatian and Serbian literature (Futurism, Dadaism, Expressionism, Surrealism, Zenitism and others).
  • 3) Analysis of literary works written by Croatian and Serbian Avant-garde authors:
