- At the end of the course students should be able to:
paraphrase the basic rules of Latin normative syntactic phenomena studied within the course (vide the syllabus of the course);
translate clauses into Czech and Latin;
analyze complex Latin sentences;
explain the use of concrete grammatical features in Latin sentences;
use synonymic constructions and explain differences in their meaning. - Syllabus
- Systematic explanation of Latin subordinate clauses and their functional equivalents.
- Introduction to Latin syntax.
- Sequence of tenses and moods. Introduction to the basic rules of sequence of tenses and moods in Latin.
- Complement clauses: use of accusative / nominative with infinitive construction, their comparison to the subordinate clauses with conjunctions, use of indicative and subjunctive.
- Relative clauses, use of indicative or subjunctive.
- Temporal clauses (conjunctions, use of tenses and moods).

- The course includes lectures and practice (with focus on translating into Czech and Latin and analysis of the Latin clauses). Regular work at home is expected as well as active attendance at the lessons.
- Assessment methods
- To obtain the credit students have to pass 4 tests written during the semester (passing rate: 75% in all the tests considered together and 75% in the last test). Tests consist of translation from Latin and into Latin and other exercises (eg. filling gaps, choice of grammatical forms). If students fail the tests, they have to pass a final comprehensive test that includes all the topics studied during the semester.

- At the end of the course students should be able to:
paraphrase the basic rules of Latin normative syntactic phenomena studied within the course (vide the syllabus of the course);
translate clauses into Czech and Latin;
analyze complex Latin sentences;
explain the use of concrete grammatical features in Latin sentences;
use synonymic constructions and explain differences in their meaning. - Syllabus
- Systematic explanation of Latin subordinate clauses and their functional equivalents.
- Introduction to Latin syntax.
- Sequence of tenses and moods. Introduction to the basic rules of sequence of tenses and moods in Latin.

- The course includes lectures and practice (with focus on translating into Czech and Latin and analysis of the Latin clauses). Regular work at home is expected as well as active attendance at the lessons (75%).
- Assessment methods
- To obtain the credit students have to pass tests written during the semester (they will be at least four). Tests consist of translation from Latin and into Latin. If students fail the tests, they have to pass a final comprehensive test that includes all the topics studied during the semester.
Class attendance is obligatory. Active participation and homework are required. - Language of instruction

- At the end of the course students should be able to:
paraphrase the basic rules of Latin normative syntactic phenomena studied within the course (vide the syllabus of the course);
translate clauses into Czech and Latin;
analyze complex Latin sentences;
explain the use of concrete grammatical features in Latin sentences;
use synonymic contstructions and to explain differences in their meaning. - Syllabus
- Systematic exposition of Latin subordinate clauses and their functional equivalents.
- Introduction to Latin syntax.
- Sequence of tenses and moods. Introduction to the basic rules of sequence of tenses and moods in Latin.
- Content clauses: use of accusative / nominative with infinitive construction, their comparison to the subordiante clauses with conjunctions, use of indicative and conjunctive.
- Adverbial clauses - final, consecutive, causal, conditional and concessive clauses: conjunctions in different types of clauses and use of indicative or conjunctive, other means of expression (predicative participle, ablative absolute, relative conjunctive clauses).

- At the end of the course students should be able to:
paraphrase the basic rules of Latin normative syntactic phenomena studied within the course (vide the syllabus of the course);
translate clauses into Czech and Latin;
analyze complex Latin sentences;
explain the use of concrete grammatical features in Latin sentences;

- Sequence of tenses and moods. Introduction to the basic rules of sequence of tenses and moods in Latin.

- Teaching methods
- The course includes lectures and practice (with focus on translating into Czech and Latin and analysis of the Latin clauses). Regular work at home is expected as well as active attendance at the lessons.
- Assessment methods
- To obtain the credit students have to pass 4 tests written during the semester (passing rate: 75% in all the tests considered together and 75% in the last test). Tests consist of translation from Latin and into Latin and other exercises (eg. filling gaps, choice of grammatical forms). If students fail the tests, they have to pass a final comprehensive test that includes all the topics studied during the semester.
