Course objectives
The subject follows its first part in the introduction of basic concepts of heaven and hell as it had been understood in ancient cultures and in the early and high Middle Ages. A key piece in the second part is Dante's Divine Comedy.
Learning outcomes
The students will be able to discuss the basic concepts of heaven and hell in ancient cultures and in the early and high Middle Ages. In accordance to this they will be able to understand the symbols of Dante's Divine Comedy and explain them.
