Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the theoretical framework of comparative linguistics as a distinct field of language study. Emphasis is placed on practical work and the analysis of specific linguistic phenomena, comparing their differences based on lexical, grammatical, syntactic, and pragmatic similarities.
Learning outcomes
Students will learn to:
- Contrastively analyse linguistic phenomena within a single language
- Compare linguistic phenomena across different languages using translated texts
- Work with lexical, grammatical, syntactic, and pragmatic categories
- Practically use language corpora

Teaching methods
The course is conducted through lectures and practical exercises.
Assessment methods
Students are required to submit a written paper on a chosen and pre-approved topic within the scope of contrastive language analysis, with a length of 5 standard pages.
