The prerequisite is the successful conclusion of all the linguistic disciplines and the capacity of the comprehension and scientific and linguistic communication in the Portuguese language.

Course objectives
The aim of the course of HIstory of Portuguese Language is to make students acquainted with the backgrounds of the evolution of the Portuguese from the period of the Vulgar Latin to the contemporary age. The seminar offers relatively detailed information about the old Portuguese grammars, texts and wioll also explain some questions about the galaic and Brasilian Portuguese.

Teaching methods
At the end of this course, students will be able to deduce and explain the rules of basic historical-linguistic phenomena and identify the deviations from the standard. He or she will be able justify and bring serious arguments to support his or her thesis.
