- Course objectives
- The main aim of the course is to introduce students to the environment of clinical psychology - the style of thinking, the overview of diagnoses, the scope of work and the medical system they will encounter when working in clinical psychology. The course is taught by health care psychologists who will gradually introduce their fields of practice, namely psychiatry and neurology. Each lecturer has prepared two blocks related to a specific range of diagnoses, the first lecture being more theoretical, the second focusing on differential diagnosis and case reports. The teaching is enriched by two lectures focused on the diagnostic process and the topic of suicidality.
- Learning outcomes
- During the semester the student: - get acquainted with the most common diagnoses encountered by psychologists in health care institutions (in the form of theoretical lectures and case studies from practice), - teaches how to think about the differential diagnosis of individual disorders and diseases, - briefly introduce the requirements of pre-testing training and the Czech health care system, - meet the requirements that are placed on psychologists at the beginning of their work in the health care system, - become familiar with the day-to-day work of a psychologist in the healthcare sector.

- Assessment methods
- 1) Active participation in teaching 2) Final colloquium: the course ends with a colloquium (graded P/N). Students are given an assignment in which they are given a brief introduction to the characteristics of a particular patient. Their task will be to establish working hypotheses, select appropriate methods to test them, and then discuss in a group the differential diagnostic reasoning developed.
