Course objectives
Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to: 1. differentiate between the different focuses of lessons and activities, such as language resources, speaking skills, English for Specific Purposes, literature, and culture, and understand how to structure the different focuses to develop students' communicative competence best; (1.1, 1.2) 2. understand the various elements of instructional management and recognize their importance, e.g., giving and reviewing instructions, classroom layout, interaction patterns, time allocation, and supervision of students; (3.3, 2.4) 3. Select and adapt an activity from a textbook and analyze the language needed to implement it; (2.1, 2.2) 4. Select appropriate authentic materials and process them didactically. (6.2, 1.2) 5. plan and prepare a classroom activity using appropriate presentation methods including ICT (2.3, 3.1, 3.3) 6. Deliver a short in-class activity using appropriate methods, then reflect; (2.5, 5.1) 7. Use observation as a means of professional development (4.2) 8. Work appropriately with errors in language teaching; (2.4, 4.2) 9. Provide and receive feedback regarding lessons and plan for further development; (4.2, 5.1) 10. Use different types of interaction to promote learner collaboration in AJ teaching; (3.2).
