Cíle předmětu
The course aims to provide students with a basic overview of knowledge in the below-mentioned thematic areas, an explanation of the fundamental issues and topics of the thematic blocks, and acquaint them with selected specific examples from the practice. The course consists of three thematic blocks. The first block reflects the issues associated with digitization within museums, galleries, and archives, the current transformation through digital technologies and new media, follows the historical context and continuity. The second block deals with the archives of New media art. Moreover, it comprehensively deals with the issue of preserving new media works of art. The third block is dedicated to online sessions with experts who focus on the topics discussed.
Výstupy z učení
After completing the course, the student will gain an overview of the development of new media and digital technologies in the environment of museums, galleries, and associated archives. The student will theoretically get acquainted with the archival approaches to New media works of art and gain insight into the possibilities of curation through AI. They will verify the acquired knowledge through continuous voluntary exercises in the form of questionnaires with the archives of the New media art. Moreover, it comprehensively deals with the issue of preserving new media works of art. The third block is dedicated to online sessions with experts who focus on the topics discussed.

  • - This block focuses on live online sessions in which experts on the topic present their projects. In the past, these have included Giampaolo Salice and Diego Cavallotti from the Università degli Studi di Cagliari. Other guests have included artists from Berlin, Ornella Fieres and Maria Petrovic.;

Výukové metody
The course is designed as e-learning, implemented remotely. Students gradually get acquainted with pre-prepared materials (texts, videos). Teachers will verify the gained knowledge of the students at the end of the course. Experts from the relevant areas will be approached as guests to present the current picture of the topics discussed. The lessons will be supplemented by mandatory control questionnaires after every lesson. The course is taught in English.
Metody hodnocení
At the end of the course, students will create a media work that will be accompanied by a related text. The topics suggested by the teachers will be on the Padlet platform where students will have the freedom to come up with new ideas and share new topics. This space will allow students to comment on each other's ideas and form groups. The text must be written in English. Students will find instructions for creating a media piece and accompanying text in the course materials.
