Course objectives
The edition and analysis of the student song-book Cantilenae diversae Brno 1745. This seminary cycle of letctures introduces a unique source discovered at the end of 1970s, however already known in 19th century and later lost. It is the handwritten anonymous student song-book Cantilenae diversae from Brno around 1745. The students acquaint themselves with the individual songs, learn how to read the simplified melody recording of the 18th century. At the same time the songs are harmonized and an interpretation similar to a contemporary one is also offered. As the part of the analysis there are many philological problems of the contemporary German and Latin. Also the transcriptions and analyses from other sources are considered.
