- Course objectives
- This course is aimed at studying reportage as a specific form of expression and also a particular creative method; starting with Czech travelogues from the end of the 15th to the 17th century, including elements of reportage in the works of the 18th and 19th century writers, up to famous figures at the turn of the 20th century. We will also focus at works of the 1920s and 1930s reporters and the relative revival of reportage in the 1960s.

- Is reportage a literary genre? - Reportage as a type of prose - Oldřich Prefát z Vlkanova and other Czech authors of travelogues at the turn of Renaissance - Matěj Milota Zdirad Polák and his Cesta do Itálie - Josef Kořenský, Enrique Stanko Vráz and other travellers and authors of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century - Egon Erwin Kisch and Czech prose - the influence of Russian Leftist authors (Rejsnerová, Kolcov et al.) - socialist realist novel of the 1950s and elements of reportage in prose - the works of the pair Zikmund-Hanzelka - famous figures of the 1960s (Aškenázy, Mňačko) - How is the "health" of Czech literary reportage these days?
