Cíle předmětu
The goal of this seminar is to give students the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills needed for online language teaching. After completing the course, the students will be able to distinguish between various techniques of online teaching; they will be prepared to use the tools offered by IS MU and LMS Moodle and evaluate their respective qualities. They will also be capable of creating language materials in LMS Moodle and working as tutors of English. From the very first lesson they will use their acquired knowledge and skills as e-tutors in an online English language course that has been created in two versions – one in IS and the other one in Moodle, which will serve as a training space for their practical activities. The seminar will cover both theoretical and practical topics such as follows: Online learning, forms and possibilities that the Internet offers for language teaching,; Differences between various online activities; Online teaching/tutoring, the difference between f2f and online teaching; Getting to know IS MU from the teacher's point of view; Getting to know LMS Moodle from the teacher's and tutor's point of view; Individual tools, language mutations, settings; Communication tools introduced in practical settings; Creating easy teaching materials, their piloting and evaluation; Roles of e-students, e-tutors, motivation techniques, general aspects of distant education; Potential of LMS Moodle for secondary schools.
