- Course objectives
- The main aim of this course is to acquire the ability to work with sources relating to the history of Moravia in the second half of the 13th century, their translation, interpretation and analysis. M.A. students work with local narrative sources (the second of the Kosmovo Chronicles, the Chronicles of Žďár Monastery, the Zbraslav Chronicle, the Přibík Pulkava Chronicle) as well as foreign (the Světlá and Viennese chronicles, the chronicles of Jindřich Heimburský, Heřman Altaišský, Colmar, Otakar Štýrský, John of Viktring, Simon of Keza, the Ipatijevský Chronicle). Relevant documents are also translated and are provided with commentaries which identify the people and places and shed light on the circumstances surrounding the origins of the writings.
