Course objectives
Students are introduced to oral speech culture (behaviour, performance, language, professional speech, coping with stage fright), techniques of oral speech (articulation and respiratory coordination exercises, voice hygiene), types and structure of oratorical speeches, narrow and broad focus in communication, principles of logical thinking, correct argumentation, rhetorical ethics, nonverbal communication, particularities within diverse disciplines communication, social intercourse, ceremony, diplomatic protocol, workplace presentation, communicating with authority and the public, basic communication principles and media. At the end of this course, students should:
have an understanding of above mentioned concepts;
be able to communicate across various disciplines;
be able to present brief report in public;

  • 1.Definition of the subject, auxiliary disciplines, literature
  • 2.History of rhetoric, essay assignment
  • 3.Verbal and nonverbal interpersonal communication, personal image
  • 4.Speech techniques – voice expression and posture, respiration, voice hygiene
  • 5.Standards and pronunciation drill
  • 6.Phrasing, accents, intonation. Specific linguistic means
  • 7.Types of verbal communication
  • 8.Nonverbal communication
  • 9.Structure of oratorical speeches
  • 10.Principles of logical thinking and correct argumentation
  • 11.Rhetorical ethics, Stage fright and stress
  • 12.Manipulation with a microphone
  • 13.Self-knowledge, persuasive behaviour, assertivity
