Cíle předmětu
The aim of the course is to give students an idea of what it is like to be a translator working for the European Commission. This intensive one-week course (four lessons per day). The course is not intended to teach translation techniques – only what, why and with what resources texts are translated at the European Commission’s DG for Translation. There will be a final test at the end of the course.

  • Introduction: Elf course and website Directorate-General for Translation (DGT). Questions. EU trainees. Kinds of text translated at the DGT, translation products, approaches, quality levels. Hands-on translation in and outside the class. Three-way translation. Final test. Results of final test. Wrapping up.
