- Cíle předmětu
- This course wants to bring discussion on some of current social issues in South-Eastern Europe along with their representations in documentary cinema.
The aim of the course is:
to provoke discussion on different issues, ideas, and approaches within the social documentary cinema
to give better understanding of contemporary documentary cinema from the region of SEE. - Osnova
- Introduction, fragments, and brief overview of current documentary cinema from the theoretical perspective of view: definitions, approaches, and styles
- Subjects presented in documentary cinema dealing with contemporary social discussions and issues, their focuses, and ethical considerations
- Presentation of documentaries and authors: Želimir Žilnik (The Old School of Capitalism, 2009) Adela Peeva (Whose is this Song, 2003; Albanian Divorce Style, 2007), Helena Třeštíková (Marcela, 2006; René, 2008), Sabina Vajrača (Back to Bosnia, 2005), and others

- Výukové metody
- The course ‘East-European documentary cinematography: Contexts, ideas, and politics’ will be organized within eight (8) working hours of classes divided into two days, each day four hours long. Both parts of the course will be equally divided within the structure, therefore both days will cover political, and social overviews along with films presentations and analyzes. Discussion is highly encouraged.
- Metody hodnocení
- Students will receive their tasks by the end of the first part of the course. Task is assumed as a small presentation on chosen subject, done as a part of group work, and presented by students during the second part of the course. Students will be organized into the groups, each group should choose one topic to deal with. Second part of the course will be closed with students feedbacks on lecturer performance, final discussion, and conclusion.
