Course objectives
The course introduces students to the possibilities of implementation creative writing in the educational process. It focuses on the methodological aspects of creative writing used as a method in first and foreign language acquisition at all levels of education. Students will look at creative writing as a tool of developing writing and text-creation abilities, as a means of fostering analytical, interpretative, poetological and fiction writing competences and as a method of creative teaching and learning which fosters exploratory-experimental abilities. It is also presented as a tool of enhancing learner's personal growth through self-expression, self-understanding, self-reflection and self-teaching. Students will be introduced to a key theoretical background, but the main focus will be learning by doing – students will practise writing in a wide range of creative activities. After finishing the course the students will be able
· to understand what creativity is, what are the ways of its manifestation and what are the basic principles of its enhancing at schools
· to use some of the techniques focused on enhancing writing, literary and creative competences
· will be able to reflect critically on the creative process and creative products
· will be able to apply the learned knowledge and skills to their own academic and creative activities

  • Techniques developing lateral thinking, metaphorical expression and imagination.
  • Techniques on generating ideas, looking for the topics; text creation and text revision.
  • Techniques on text reduction, expansion and transformation.
  • Techniques enabling minimalization of expression.

Assessment methods
Final assessment combines the evaluation of home assignments in the form of portfolio with critical reflection of the workshop processes in a form of oral interview.
