- Course objectives
- The main objective of the lecture Archaic Latin - Plautus is a theoretical introduction to the specific lingustical features of archaic Latin documents, which shall be based on reading of selected passages of Plautss comedies.
- Syllabus
- 1.The Pre-literary period of the Latin language. 3. Specific fonological features of archaic Latin illustrated on Inscriptions and early literary texts. 4. Specific morphological features of archaic Latin, observed on Inscriptions and in comdeis of Plautus. 5. Specific linguistical features of Plautus Latin - syntax and stylistics. 6. Intriduction to metrics of Plautus. 7. Reading comedies of Plautus.

- The course includes reading of one Plautus´ comedy in latin with a commentary with focus on contentual and formal grammatical and stylistic analysis of the text. Regular work at home is expected.
