- Course objectives
- The seminar focuses on developing basic skills important for creating target texts of different functions (such as popular, esthetic and communicative)and genres. Translation strategies will be practiced with native speakers of both languages, with special interests in specific language and culture features, as needed in translations of various literary communicative texts.
The course will introduce a huge variety of methods, techniques and strategies for individual stages in translating of literary texts. Language, literary, transcultural and academic competences will be developed, as well as creative, technical and organizational aspects of translatory process.
At the end of this course, students should be able:
To use correct methods and techniques in individual stages of translating;
To use correct macrostrategies;
To understand different genres;
To interpret different communicative function of genres;
To create adequate communicative translatum. - Syllabus
