- Course objectives
- Extend and profound selected themes from Portuguese Literature I - III. At the end of the course students should be able to define, understand and explain the main terms related to the historic and theoretical context of the chosen literary works and apply them correctly in analysis.

- 1. Fiction of the portuguese "fin-de-siecle" (R. Brandao, G. Leal, M. Teixeira-Gomes, A. Patrício) 2. Fiction of the Presenca generation, introspective fiction (J. Regio, J. Gaspar Simoes, Branquinho da Fonseca, M. Torga) 3. History of the portuguese theatre (an outline).

- Lecture: description of the literary field, explanation and definition of basic notions Seminar: application of the theoretical knowledge on texts

- Credit: is obtained for active participation in the course, oral presentation, reading and after succesfully completing a final test where students prove their capacity to connect theoretical knowledge with the analysis and interpretation of literary texts.
