- Course objectives
- The aim of the proseminar is to introduce one of the most important media of the early Middle Ages, the ivory. From a material point of view, the technique was very important, because it is almost impossible to remake ivory objects: therefore are preserved artifacts de facto in their original condition. Problematic, however, is from the perspective of historiography with the "moving" objects dating question and localization.
