Course objectives
The aim of the course is to deepen the knowledge of French and to develop the vocabulary and communicative competence (level B1 CEFR).
At the end of the course students should be able to:
understand the main points (conversation, media) of clear standard speech concerning familiar topics;
understand texts in a common language;
enter unprepared into conversation on topics of personal interest or concerning everyday life (eg family, hobbies, work, travel and current events);
explain her/his opinions and plans;
write simple coherent text on familiar topics, as well as personal letters describing experiences and impressions.

Teaching methods
All the basic methods of CLT programme (Communicative Language Teaching)are used: individual, pair, group activities (conversation, practice, drill). Listening exercices. Homework.
Assessment methods
Final exam:
I. Written test (grammar, vocabulary, translation), min. 70%.
II. Oral part will examine the ability to express him/herself on a specific topic (see list of topics in Study materials) and to interact with examiner.
Submission of six written translations and three essays before the end of semester is obligatory (see Study materials).
Attendance at 8 seminars minimum during the semester is obligatory.
