- ( PH1104 Antiquity - I || PHK1104 Antiquity - I ) && SOUHLAS
1. The participants of the course should be willing to discuss about the given ancient philosophical texts.
2. For the running of the course it is needed enrolment of:
a) At least 8 students of the first class which are willing to inform their schoolmates about the discussions
b) At least 4 students of the second class which want to share their experiences and thus help the younger students.
3. Also the students of the third class are welcome. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- Course objectives
- After the completion of the course, interpret ancient and mediaval philosophical sources and to understand and explain main problems from the philosophy of these periods.
- Syllabus
- Discussions on source texts to following topics according to progress of lectures in the course History of Philosophy II:
- 1. Hellenistic philosophical schools.
- 2. The Neo-Platonism.
- 3. The Christian philosophy in antiquity.
- 4. Between ancient and mediaval philosophy.
- 5. An introduction to mediaval philosophy.
- 6. Proofs of the existence of God.
- 7. Peter Abaelard.
- 8. The problem of universals.
- 9. Thomas Aquinas.

- Assessment methods
- 1. Active participation in seminars.
In the case of only passive participation on a lesson you will obtain 1 p., when you will join to the discussion on the ground of your reading of the obligatory source you will obtain 2 p. You should collect at least 75% of possible points in order to gain credits.
2. Before every lesson you have to fulfill an autotest in the ELF. You have to gain at least 50% of possible points from all the tests.
