- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide an intensive study course outside the university rooms focusing on topics that are not given attention in ordinary courses for time reasons. Students will have a wide range of opportunities of class participation through guided discussions; they will broaden their knowledge by means of teamwork and supplementary activities, too.
- Syllabus
- Lectures, exercises and reading will cover the following topics:
- The Culture of the Ancient Near Eastern states
- The Ideology of Hellenistic monarchy (including Judaea)
- The Reception of the Roman Republican history in fine arts and literature
- The Imperial Ideology of the Roman Principate
- The Ideology of rule in the period between antiquity and the Middle Ages
- The topics to be discussed will vary each year.
