Cíle předmětu
The main aim of this course is to introduce the most important chapters of cognitive psychology. Some lections have implications to different fields of psychology (neuropsychology, forensic psychology, philosophy, psychology of personality etc.), after attending this course students will be familiar with the most crucial theories of modern cognitive psychology as well as the most interesting and groundbreaking research studies done in the field. During the semester, student will be introduced to modern trends in research of cognitive styles, memory research and impact of culture on the way people remember autobiographical events, attention research and theories dealing with thinking and decision making as well as consciousness and language research.

Consciousness and personality (implication into philosophy) 7. Perception/ Focus on visual perception, discussion between Gibson and his direct perception and constructionism in perception 8. Language and speech, Shapir-Whorf hypothesis and implications into cultural anthropology, theory by Suzanne Blackmore „Meme machine“ 9. Final lesson, final discussion

Výukové metody
Teaching methods: Lectures, home readings, presentations and discussions.
Metody hodnocení
Assessment methods: There are three possible options how to pass the subject. First there is a semestral paper focusing on one particular theme, consultations are required. The second option is a presentation on one of the assign articles. The last option is a test, which will be reflecting the themes discussed during semester. Student will choose one option at the introduction lecture. Also, students have to attend at least 6 of the lectures, otherwise they have to write a paper which will not be considered a final semestral paper.
