- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge of Modern Greek (A1-A2 CEFR).
- Learning outcomes
- Students must be able to:
- understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type;
- communicate in the most common situations of everyday life (family, shopping etc.);
- understand simple texts focused on given topics;
- wright simple short texts;
- translate simple short texts from Modern Greek into Czech and vice versa;
- explain and apply grammatical phenomena they were taught. - Syllabus
- Grammar: Ellinika Tora 1+1, lessons 9 - 13: personal pronouns, aorist 1st and 2nd conjugation, aorist of irregular verbs, futurum perfective verbs of 1st and 2nd conjugation, subjunctive perfective - verbs of 1st and 2nd conjugation.
- Topics: living, traveling, holiday, entertainment, restaurant, at the doctor's.
- Orthography practice.
- Translation of short coherent texts into Czech and Modern Greek.

- Teaching methods
- The course is in the form of a seminar and lectures. Homework is required during semester – students prepare assigned grammatical exercises and translations from Modern Greek into Czech and vice versa, short essays on given topics.
- Assessment methods
- Requirements for obtaining the credit: written test (min 70 %) consisting of exercises aimed at testing the essential language skills; oral examination.
