Course objectives
The aim of the course Pedagogical Diagnostics is to acquire fundamental knowledge of pedagogical theory and practice of educational diagnostics. The students will understand the aims and methods of pedagogical diagnostics, the differences between pedagogical, psychological and pedagogical-psychological diagnostics; will be acquainted with qualitative and qualitative approaches in pedagogical diagnostics and learn the basic methods of pedagogical diagnostics.

  • Course Outline Terms Diagnostics, Diagnosing, Diagnosis. Diagnosing in Education. Pedagogic Diagnostics – Constituted Discipline among Education Sciences. Brief History of Pedagogic Diagnostics. Qualitative Attitudes in Pedagogic Diagnostics (Development, Conceptions of School Evaluation, Basis of School Evaluation). Measurement and Quantitative Attitudes in Pedagogic Diagnostics, the Term „Educometrics“. Pedagogic Diagnostics Methods and Their Classification. Individual Methods of Pedagogic Diagnostics. Diagnostics of Educational and Teaching Style of Teachers and Pedagogic Staff. Diagnostics of Students Failures. Diagnostics of Relations and Educational Rapport in Class. Teaching methods
Lecture and seminar. Lectures are based on interpretational method and are accompanied by practical examples and demonstration of pedagogical diagnostic methods. Seminars are practically oriented, students are given the opportunity to try selected diagnostic tools.
Assessment methods
The course is finished by the exam. To finish the buject is required:(1) active participation in the seminar; (2) a written test aimed at verifying the knowledge resulting from the syllabus of the subject. An up-to-date list of examination questions and a information about classification are published in the ELF study system.
