Course objectives
Students should have a B1/B2 (Common European Framework of Reference) level of German language competence. The course is focused on academic text comprehension, ability to communicate and present academic topics, writing a letter and a CV and practising grammatical categories. Student should be able to follow an academic discussion, understand the main ideas of academic texts of their field of study, interact with a native speaker fluently and spontaneously and explain their opinion on current issues.
Learning outcomes
At the completion of the course, the students will be able: Give a short presentation based on the criteria presented in the course, and respond appropriately to discussion questions posed afterwards; speak spontaneously and comprehensibly in the context of the class (e.g. discussions, expressing one's own ideas, summarizing others' ideas, recordings and texts); Read, understand and work with academic texts; Write a short texts (e.g. email correspondence, summary

Teaching methods
Discussions in class, conversation about the given topic, listening, reading assignements, grammar excercices, presentations prepared by students.
Assessment methods
Credit course. The aim of the course is to master the vocabulary from all texts covered in the seminar. This is practised both in written and spoken form. Another important aspect of the course is a presentation on a topic from the student's field of study. As it is a credit course, a test must be written at the end of the semester. The test consist of 50 items focusing on grammar structures on level B1 / B2 + reading
