- Course objectives
- The course aims to acquiesce students with the current language standard of the Czech language; with style guides and their structure. The focus will be on clarifying problems in orthography, its specifics, and frequent errors in writing. Along with issues in orthography, the course will tackle the problems in morphology and syntax (e.g. problematic forms of certain words, the style divergence of dual suffixes, the formation and use of participles; verb, noun, or adjective phrases, etc.). The course will use practical approaches to the problems at hand – following the teacher’s commentary on the theory of a particular problem (e.g. capital letters, the s/z prepositions and prefixes, punctuation), its knowledge will be tested out by means of dictation, filling-in exercises, and proofreading.
- Learning outcomes
