Prerequisites
In order to be admitted to the M. A. State Exam from the Mediterranean Studies, the student must succesfully complete B.A. State Exam from the Mediterranean Studies, must gain the prescribed amount of credits in M.A. Degree programme, must successfully complete the courses compulsory for all students of the Faculty of Arts. He must also submit the M.A. Diploma Thesis or submit the M.A. Final Thesis.

Course objectives
The aim of the exam is to examine student's knowledge and skills gained in Master's Degree programme (see course syllabus).
Learning outcomes
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- explain the basis of selected literary theories and apply the discussed methods for interpretive text analysis
- describe in detail the literary history of the chosen area(s) (Greek, Romance, Arabic) and demonstrate their mutual connections
- analyse and evaluate specific literary works in original languages and/or translations
- understand the main points of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics in a Romance language and/or modern Greek and/or Arabic language (B2 level CEFR/B1 level CEFR for Arabic)
- write a detailed text on a wide range of topics in a Romance language and/or in modern Greek (at the B2 level CEFR) and/or write texts on familiar topics in the Arabic language (at the B1 level CEFR)
- communicate fluently in a Romance language and/or modern Greek on topical issues (B2 level CEFR) and/or communicate in simple and routine tasks on familiar and common facts in the Arabic language (B1 level CEFR).

  • Written exam: Written test from selected language: French/Italian/Spanish, Greek, Arabic (Level of language knowledge requested according to programme type: A2/B1/B2): writing, text comprehension, translation.
  • Oral exam: 1. Speaking in foreign language.
