- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to give an overview of the Russian syntax in comparison to the Czech.
- Learning outcomes
- After finishing the course, the student should be able:
- to know the basic syntactic terminology;
- to define the key terms within syntax;
- to apply these terms when analysing certain texts and exercises;
- to compare Russian and Czech syntactic systems;
- to describe the sentence structure. - Syllabus
- 1. Syntax as a Part of Grammar. The Basic Syntactic Units.
- 2. The Characteristics of the Russian Syntactic System in Comparison to the Czech.
- 3. Collocation. Parataxis and Hypotaxis. Concord, Government and Adjoinment.
- 4. Simple Sentence. The Classification of Simple Sentences.
- 5. Parts of Sentence. The Main Sentence Parts and the Secondary Sentence Parts.
- 6. The Inner Structure of the Sentence. Multiple Part of Sentence.
- 7. Sentence. Parataxis.
- 8. Sentence. Hypotaxis.
- 9. The Word Order.
