Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The 19th century art in the territory of Slovakia was of divergent character, developed outside the domestic background in the absence of standard schools, institutions and art groups. It reacted to European events and trends to varying degrees. At the course students will get acquainted with representative examples of art works within the themed lectures and gain an overall view about artistic events in the context of Slovakia (and Hungaria).
Learning outcomes
The students will after the cours know - the cultural situation and specific features of artistic development in Slovakia (and Hungaria) in the decades of the 19th century - ways of following and contributing to the trends, styles and subjects of European art - collecting and patronage activities - the most important painters and sculptors from Slovakia - representative art works of the 19th century preserved in Slovakia - current issues and problems of 19th century art research
