- The final state examination is an oral exam.
- It comprises several component parts
* Portuguese Linguistics 1
* Portuguese Linguistics 2
* Portuguese and Brazilian literature
* Theory of literature
A further constituent part is the diploma thesis defence, which may take place after.
The Final State Examination is to demonstrate
- The student’s ability
* To handle assigned scholarly problems in a cultivated manner
* To respond in discussion and display a capacity for matter-of-fact reasoning
* To utilize his/her knowledge of literature and other sources in expert debate
- The student’s knowledge
* Of relevant facts and factual material
* Of basic as well as advanced methodology in the field
* Scholarly literature
- The student’s skills * Regarding formulating theses and assertions and the ability to support them
* In composing a clearly structured overview and interpretation of a given problem
* Regarding a critical approach to scholarly sources - Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to:
- identify and summarize the important features of the major periods of development of the Portuguese language;
- describe the basic differences between the various geographical varieties of Portuguese;
- describe and define the basic concepts and phenomena related to the semantics of the Portuguese language;
- identify and summarize important features of the main periods of development of Portuguese literature;
to identify and summarize important features of the main period of Brazilian literature development. - Syllabus

- Státní závěrečná zkouška probíhá v portugalštině a skládá se z následujících otázek. Student si vybírá vždy jednu otázku z jednoho okruhu:
- PORTUGUESE LINGUISTIC 1
- 1. objeto da semântica, significado lexical, referentes e representações mentais
- 2. intensão e extensão
- 3. organização das propriedades semânticas dentro da palavra
- 4. relações entre as palavras: hiperonímia e hiponímia
- 5. relações entre as palavras:holonímia e meronímia
- 6. relações entre as palavras: sinonímia e antonímia
- 7. relações entre as palavras: polissemia, homonímia, vagueza
- 8. combinatórias entre palavras: restrições de selecção, solidariedades lexicais
- 9. valor semântico da frase: predicação, predicador, argumentos
- 10. funções semânticas /temáticas
